After arriving at the hostel I quickly made connections with two of my roommates and someone I sort of knew from back home.
We started out with some drinks and visiting at the hostel restaurant and bar. Then we went down the street to Cross Club, a multi-level restaurant and club that has some very interesting decor.
The next day Stan and I went exploring with the intent of making it to the Zoo at some point. Along the way we found a few different interesting spots. First we happened upon a kayak training course.
Next we found a Trojan Horse Bar and then the Trojan Villa.
The grounds had a small labyrinth where we picnicked before discovering that there was a gallery inside the villa. The gallery was a mix of a modern art exhibit and and exhibit of the original frescos on the ceilings and walls.
After that we finally made it to the zoo too wonder around a bit before closing.
That night I sat up visiting with my old roommates/two boys from Holland, Wouter and Rick.
The next day Stan and I went to buy my ticket to Berlin, then headed to the museum. But before we made it onto the metro we got stuck paying a fine because what we thought was a day pass was in fact not a day pass…oops oh well.
Anyway we then went to the museum, where we were only able to look at two special exhibits because the permanent museum collection is in the old building which has been under reconstruction for three years. The two exhibited we were able to see consisted of a lot of death and taxidermy…one exhibit was literally an exhibit about death, interesting to a point but also very depressing.
The second was called Noah’s Ark which translated as being like going to a zoo except all of the animals are no longer living. Wow that sounds like a grim point of view.
After taking time to explore death in its various forms, we went and found a nice little restaurant that gave us a taste of some true Czech platers.
That night we hung out at the bar again with Wouter and Rick, it was their last night. We joined in on some karaoke that was happening inside…
Then when the bar tenders closed up the bar we went back out on the patio and found Mac, a Kiwi, with his guitar.
This then turned into a bit of a campfire style sing-a-long. That transitioned to some of them playing a drinking game with the bar tenders. Then it just became a big group of people chatting, most of us not getting to bed till 5am…oops
Sunday was a pretty quiet day, but I did make it to a Moravian Church in Prague!! They were just having a simple summer fellowship style service rather then a formal service.
That evening we hung out with Mac and his roommates, but the evening quickly escalated then came to an early end when one person from the group became a bit of a raging drunk. Oh well, gave me a chance to get a little extra sleep before my train to Berlin the next day.
